Acoustic Edinburgh – this Tuesday – One Day 40 headline

2007 February 4
by Si

Featuring: James Hara, Rob St. John, Ian Sclater, Mike Allen & One Day 40
From: 8.30, free entry

OK – so a couple of months ago some pals of Acoustic Edinburgh’s voice of 2006, Tracey Braithwaite, graced our stage in the mid-evening slot. Their wonderful multi-layered harmonies, on-the-nail songwriting and crowd-winning vibe (described as “Matchbox 20 in a street fight with the Eagles”) knocked my socks off, and a headline slot for ONE DAY 40 was immediately secured for February. Fantastic!

Well… you all should be excited, but I’m actually gutted because I’m going to be stuck in the arse end of nowhere* on a work trip while you have all the fun. Despite my best efforts I couldn’t get out of this one, so Paul’s going to be running the show all on his own. I’ll be there in spirit (or at least in 44Khz 16-bit stereo) via the magic of PAUL’S CD PLAYER.

As it happens, I’m not only missing our first 7-piece band at Medina, but also a faultless line-up of intelligent, musical, and soul-warming acoustic acts. From Americana to alt.folk, we’ve booked so many great performers for this week, Paul himself has has had to be bumped off the line up. Seriously, check out the links above to hear for yourself the incredible quality that’s going to be on show!

(I wish I was going to) See you there,
Si

* OK, if you must know, it’s southern California, but I would still rather be in Medina.

SoCal Si? I have one of your mix CDs at the ready.
It is going to be a great night and a deliberate lack of female perfomers (apart from the lovely Tracey B) as a pre-cursor to next month’s event!

Unfortunately James Hara has been hit by a throat bug and had to pull out.
In his stead we’ll be treated to the earthy tones of Pope Alexander
    See you tomorrow!
